Curtis Casella is the co-creator of Paper Boys and has acted as a writer, director, editor, and is the Executive Producer. He graduated from UCLA summa cum laude with a degree in Film and Television. Curtis currently lives in San Francisco, but he's lived in Los Angeles, New York, Paris and Johannesburg. He's circumnavigated the globe twice, but all in economy class. He doesn’t recommend that unless you dislike your legs.
Curtis has written, produced and directed several short films, a documentary, and a new media web series called Searching For Kelly that told its story through a series of interlinked "found" articles, footage and blog posts by the characters in the story. His short stories have been honorably mentioned in competitions by the literary magazine Glimmer Train.
Kyle Cabral is a director, producer, illustrator, and animator. Born and raised in New Jersey, Kyle went to school in Los Angeles to study film and animation at the School of Cinematic Arts at USC. After graduating in 2009, Kyle went back east to work in New York City as a freelance illustrator, animator, and storyboard artist working with independent filmmakers and mobile game developers.
Currently, Kyle lives in Oakland, California after moving back to the west coast in February of 2014. He now works at Telltale Games, game developers of major franchises like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, as a cinematic artist. Some of Kyle's most notable work to date includes his illustration series titled, 'The Crossing' which gained an impressive amount of recognition on Tumblr. Additionally, Kyle has produced several short animated films which have garnered him a following in online communities such as Deviant Art.
Henry is a San Francisco native. He began his career performing in local musical theater productions. After completing a few show runs, he took some time off from performing to follow a more “traditional” career path. Since finding his way back to acting 3 years ago, he has since worked on a number of film projects across California. In addition to his role in Paper Boys, Henry recently completed roles in another webseries and a few short films. In his remaining spare time, Henry works with teenagers as a high school and club volleyball coach.
Friends describe Sarah as talkative; family describe Sarah as feisty. She's the one you’ll see at a Christmas party hovering over the bowl of red & green M&M’s (she swears they taste more magical than regular ones.). She's also the girl who will immediately join any conversation involving the San Francisco Giants, sea turtles, or Meryl Streep (because, duh.). She's been married to a fellow redhead for a number of years now, and they still get mistaken for being brother and sister.
She has been a professional actress for a several years, having been involved with various short film projects and is currently studying at a studio. You may find her begging people to let her show them her horrible Drew Barrymore impersonation (just say no) or talking about how much she thinks Kristen Wiig is her spirit sister and long lost best friend.
Kai always had a passion for acting, but began pursuing acting after leaving a teaching career. Since then, she's found success in commercial work, as well as short films. When she's not acting, she enjoys painting, and spending time with her pug. If she could choose a superpower, she would choose telekinesis.
Born in Phoenix Arizona, Kevyn Richmond made his first television appearances in national commercials. In 2013 he became an international songwriter helping pen the hit song “Miss You” by K-Pop sensations Tiny-G. Kevyn has appeared in independent features, award winning shorts and has been featured in national radio ads. Currently he also stars in the award winning series F#@K I Love U. Dan Chen is a cinematographer and director based in Los Angeles. He was born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas, where he made friends through making movies. He then attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he met even more great friends and learned how to make better movies. Mitchell Collins was one of the composers for episodes 1 and 2, and composed all of the music for episodes 3 and 4. He is a composer and producer who has seen the movie Notting Hill 37 times. He got his start scoring his friends' thesis films at UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television and has since composed original music for numerous short films, games, documentaries, and web projects. Mitchell has an M.A. in Scoring for Film & Multimedia from NYU and a B.A. in Music Composition from UCLA.
Derek Zhao was one of the composers for episodes 1 and 2. He currently lives in Beijing composing for Chinese feature films and commercials. He was classically trained in violin performance and studied composition and music recording at USC's Thornton School of Music. Prior to working in Beijing, Derek's experience includes interning for composers Jeff Rona (White Squall, Persons Unknown, Traffic: The Mini-series), Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Walking Dead), and serving as Randy Newman's technical assistant on Disney's The Princess and the Frog and Toy Story 3.
Nathan is an actor from the Bay Area, but recently moved to Los Angeles to study at an Adler based conservatory. While in the Bay, Nathan worked on stage in both San Francisco and the East Bay, being nominated for Person To Watch from Broadywayworld.com for his performance as Harry Brewer/Major Robert Ross/John Arscott in “Our Country’s Good” and Best Lead Actor in a Musical from Theatre Bay Area (TBA) for his performance as Eddie Lyons in “Blood Brothers”. He also worked on many short films, “Working Title” and “The Perfect Drink” which was recognized at NFFTY, as well as “Better The Devil” which was recognized and Ploymore Film Festival, Nevermore, Dragon Con and FilmQuest. Nathan is so happy to be a part of Paper Boys and looks forward to bringing this unique and important story to life.
